Race Start: 8 a.m. Did you know that Tupper Lake is home to one of the longest-running triathlons in the United States? It's true! Since 1983, athletes have descended on Tupper Lake to kick off their racing season on the Tupper Lake Tinman's picturesque Adirondack mountain course. July 22, 2018 2018 Ironman Lake Placid Athletes from around the world will descend on the alpine village of Lake Placid to test their limits in the 20th running Ironman Lake Placid. A favorite among competitors, the Lake Placid Ironman is the second oldest Ironman in North America and one of the sport's most popular courses.Swimmers will enter the water at 6:30 a.m. for a 2.4 mile swim across beautiful Mirror Lake, followed by a demanding 112-mile bike leg through the Adirondack Mountains, ending with a full marathon through the mountains and downtown that ends at the Olympic speed skating oval in the village of Lake Placid.

Fri - Sun May 25 - 27 Red, White & Blue Spring into Summer Celebration - Join the Town of Webb in Old Forge, NY and the heart of the Adirondacks, to celebrate Memorial Day weekend with the Red, White & Blue Spring Into Summer Celebration! This family friendly town-wide event is filled with fun activities all weekend long including local garage sales, performances, exhibitions and workshops at View Arts, family fun at Calypso’s Cove, a family fishing derby, live music, great specials and entertainment around town at local shops, restaurants and bars and so much more! The weekend will close on Monday with a Memorial Day parade down Main Street as we remember the men and women who have fallen while serving our country

Sat May 26 18th Annual Kiwanis Free Car Wash - 10:00am- 3pm at Calypso's Cove Parking Lot.. This annual fund raising event provides funds for the administration and operations of all the many Kiwanis children's activities that take place during the year.

Sat May 26 Youth Fishing Clinic -11 am - 1 pm at the Old Forge Lakefront navigation docks. Children ages 12 and under. Fishing poles, bait and instruction will be provided.

Sat May 26 Concert and Fireworks - 6 pm at the Old Forge Lakefront. Live music by Monk Rowe & John Hutson starting at 6 pm. The duo plays a variety of styles including blues, jazz, rock & roll and western swing. Fireworks will follow at dusk. Bring a chair or blanket; rain date is Sunday, May 27.

Mon May 28 Memorial Day Parade & Wreath Laying Ceremony - Parade down Main Street at 10am with ceremonies at school, fire hall & cemetery. Refreshments after at Old Forge Fire Hall.

Thurs May 31 Ladies Night at View- 6:30pm. Start the night with yoga to boost your metabolism, generate laughter, tone your body and is a guaranteed good time to be had by all. Once Yoga is finished add your personal designs to wine bottles then plant your two herbs in your self watering herb wine planters! You will get two drink tickets and there will be snacks throughout the night to enjoy! You must be 21 years or older to purchase tickets. Deadline to register is May 28, 2018. On Friday June 15, the Adirondack duo of Jim and Bonnie Tracy will entertain you. They have been playing music together since 1979 and enjoy performing traditional music, old time country, piedmont blues and folk revival music from the 1960's.

Sat June 30 Road Rally Scavenger Hunt - Get a car filled with your friends or family to join us for a fun-filled road rally scavenger hunt through the Old Forge, Inlet, Thendara and Big Moose area! Don't worry motorcyclist, you're invited too! Get five of your fellow bikers together to make a team. The road rally scavenger hunt you will follow sets of clues leading you through your journey. At each pit stop you will obtain a clue following answering questions, completing a task or stop in to say "hi" and find the clue holder. Each task and correct answer will earn your team points. Finish with the top score and go home with a prize! Don't worry, there are bonus points for all the scavenger hunt items you collect on your journey. Remember this is a fun competition and we do not encourage or support any speeding or road rules broken. Time will be taken in the event of a tie breaker. The hunt will end at View with a reception with cash bar, free non-alcoholic drinks and snacks while the winner is determined! This capital city on the River Liffey has an abundance of history and colorful characters and Tom will introduce you to some of them. This program is ideal for those interested in Irish Literature.

Tues July 3 Songs & Stories of Dublin - 7:30pm at the Old Forge Library. Come and enjoy a wonderful evening of stories and song by Tom O'Carroll. Tom is a Dublin born folklorist, folk-singer and instrumentalist who brings a wealth of stories, humor, wit and history to his performances.."

Wed July 4 46th Annual Forge Festival of Arts & Crafts - 9am - 6pm at the Adirondack Bank Parking lot. Craft vendors include local jeweler, Mary Blanchard, and popular potter Greg Rudd, in addition to many others. There will also be a variety of food vendors offering more than 20 varieties of homemade fudge as well as fresh roasted nuts, squeezed lemonade and barbeque prepared on site. “The festival gives people a unique shopping and dining opportunity to enjoy while they are experiencing Old Forge on the 4th of July,” says Deborah Ritz. “This location is perfect for anyone who want to stop and shop for snacks to bring on their boats or bring to a party--or for shoppers looking for unique hand-crafted items.” Admission to the event is $3. Thurs July 5 Rock the Library Magic Show - 12pm - 1pm at the Old Forge Library. Magician Debbie O'Carroll joins Musician Tom O'Carroll in this fun and funny interactive magic show that highlights the art of music. Tom's lively songs and tunes on the guitar, banjo, tin whistle, mandolin, Irish drum and African thumb piano will delight youngsters. Debbie's enchanting magic illusions will involve all with some storybook characters from these magical and musical lands. Open to the public.

Thurs July 5 - August 2 Summer Reading Program - Thursdays at 12pm. Get ready for an exciting summer reading program as the Old Forge Library sponsors “Libraries Rock”. Don’t miss this timely way to encourage your child to continue reading throughout the summer! On each Thursday from July 5 – August 2 there will be a variety of activities for children pre-k and up (K & younger must be accompanied with a parent or care giver).

Fri July 6 Beer & Wine Train - 6:30pm at the Thendara Train Station. Relax and experience travel by rail, where getting there is part of the fun! Our trips always include something special. Watch the scenic countryside roll by while sipping on the best wines and brews. Travel from our Thendara station and back, enjoying a selection of beers or wines along the way. We will provide music and light snacks, with award winning cheeses provided by Cabot Cheese. Beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages are available for purchase. Must be at least 21 years old to ride. The Old Forge Antiques and Vintage Show and Sale returns to the George T. Hiltebrant Recreation Center on North Street. Fri Aug 3 10th Annual Ice Cream Bowl Social -11am at Point Park. Come enjoy your favorite ice cream in a handmade bowl at Point Park, in the center of Old Forge across from the Old Forge Hardware Store. Local potters make these one-of-a-kind ceramic bowls in the Meyda Tiffany Lighting Creative Arts Wing at View. Be sure to arrive early! There are many bowls and other ceramic pieces to choose from and plenty of ice cream and toppings at the ready. The pottery will have a range of prices depending upon the choice, from $10 to $25, which includes ice cream. If you choose not to purchase pottery, you may make a donation of $5 and receive an ice cream sundae. This annual event benefits the Rintrona Ceramics Studio and has become a favorite destination for an afternoon ice cream treat with friends and family. Thurs Aug 9 Secret Garden Tour - The tour provides an opportunity to visit local pristine gardens at private residences in a ten-mile radius.Michele DeCamp and Kate Russell, who has organized the Secret Garden Tour for several years, has been busy choosing this year's gardens of choice. "The Secret Garden Tour allows the public to take in the beauty of some fantastic but hidden flower and vegetable gardens in our area," said deCamp. June 8 - 10, 2018 The three-day Adirondack Birding Festival features birding hikes, walks, safaris, outings, and seminars throughout Hamilton County. All field trips are free and registration is required for each outdoor event. June 9, 2018 Black Fly Challenge - Inlet to Indian Lake Saturday - June 9, 2018 The Black Fly Challenge is a legendary Adirondack mountain bike race held annually on the second Saturday in June through the Adirondacks. Held alternately each year in either Indian Lake or Inlet, the 40-mile gravel grinder passes through the Adirondack backcountry, traversing through the rugged Moose River Plains and continuing along waterways, dirt paths and rugged trails through dense forest.
